I am finally here in the US of A!
Well well well...I wouldn't have thought so a year ago...but leaving the UK was so hard. I was excited about my upcoming trip to the US, but I really had a hard time saying goodbye to all my wonderful friends in the UK! You guys are all so amazing! I wish I could take you all home with me! It was extremely tough!
I've been so busy here in the US...what with satellite TV and all! hehehehe...It's been a wonderfully relaxing time...and everytime I think...'I really should write a newsletter!'...I think...'But, I don't have any NEWS!' So, I just thought I'd give you the 'non-news' of what I've been up to!
On the whole, I have been visiting with friends alot. The wonderful people I am staying with have got this thing called T-Vo. (Pronounced Tee-vo) and it's just amazing! IT's satellite TV that is playing live tv, but you can pause it! So, you are watching a programme, and the phone rings and you can PAUSE live TV! It's amazing...the other day, I had this enormous craving for my gorgeous no-sugar Breyers ice-cream...I didn't have to miss a SECOND of 'Friends'! I just pressed pause and went a got some and the best part is that, because you have pressed pause for a while, you can fast forward through the adverts until you are caught up! AMAZING! Yup....the American life has got me....with hooks! hehehe...
I have also been helping friends sell a house that we had to 'stage' so that it looked like people lived in it and it looked really cute! So I painted a bunch of things and helped them to really make it look great! IT was great fun! I have also been writing more songs. There is a gorgeous big piano here which I have LOVED having! So, that's been amazing!
Now...the MOST important thing I've done is GONE TO DISNEYLAND! (This is the answer to depression, fatigue, dizziness, homesickness, writers block, and eternal life...because I think Jesus lives in the Disney castle...with Tinkerbell and the seven dwarves!!! Yup...this is most certainly the happiest place on earth...and all problems dissolve when you walk through the gates! This IS heaven on earth..and I think Jesus gets in some rides after the park is closed at night! hehehe I went on nearly every ride, and didn't have to wait more than 20 min in line! I went on Space Mountain twice...(cos the first time turned me inside out!) and it was just...as Becca would say, WICK-ED! So...I bought a 3 day pass and I'm going again with some kids on Wednesday, and then again on the 30th...cos I have to go 3 times before that date! So, It's gonna be hard, but I'm going to bite the bullet and do it! C-R-A-Z-Y-!
Then there's Thanksgiving on Thursday! Think of me while I'm stuffing my face with delishimus (Nic...Chris...you have rubbed off....) food! The turkey has already started being injected with juices in preparation! I think I'm making the centrepeice for the table...although I don't think they know that yet!?! hehehe...Then, Thanksgiving night, we are off to the mountains to the cabin there for a few days...woohoo! To go to the thrift stores, and the discount stores up there...(Think about it....rich people that give their clothes to these places...and discontinued lines....it's a GOLD MINE! hehehe)
And then of course the gorgeous views and the mountain air! (I'll finally be able to wear my jumpers/sweaters/jerseys....take your pick depending on where you come from...!!!!!) That's another thing...I have been so confused as to which country I'm in. I have been converting prices into pounds into my head to get a grip on if things are expensive or not... I have been saying words and then trying to correct myself and saying something in South African...I'm getting country-confused here! hehehehe
Anyway folks...I think that is all for now...I love you all too much and I miss you all dearly! I have struggled so much thinking that I have all these wonderful friends all over the world...and WHAT AM I DOING TO MYSELF LEAVING EVERYONE ALL THE TIME....but hey...I'll get back and visit...(I feel sorry for my husband one day...'ok honey, I'm off on my annual round the world trip for 3 months...have fun with the kids!' hehehehe....)
I just want to make a special mention to the (2nd) most precious boy in the whole world...(well I can't say first...when Cameron's around! hehehe) Christopher Andrew Hartslief who decided to grace us with his presence on the 20th November 2005, born to Anne & Brendan Hartslief . WELL DONE ANNIE! YOU ARE SO CLEVER! And CONGRATULATIONS to you Bren!!! THANK YOU JESUS FOR THIS PERFECT BLESSING!
Love and hugs and kisses!

| HI GUYS! SOOO sorry it's been so long since I wrote, but I've been waiting to give you all very exciting news, but I don't know if it's going to happen, so I thought I'd write anyway...
I am feeling extremely homesick at the moment and I wish that I could just hop on a plane and come on home this INSTANT...but I can't, I have to stay here, or I can't go to the States! Yup, USA is approaching fast, and then it'll be 2 whole months of holiday and visiting with people. Please pray for God to do miracles and stretch my money because I am starting to panic about my money situation for then. Heaven knows why I chose to go for 2 whole months...but hey...God knew that long ago!
So, if any of you feel like calling me, or writing me an email to cheer me up with some SA spirit...DO IT!
Anyway, can't 'chat' for long, just wanted to say hi to everyone! HI EVERYONE! I LOVE AND MISS YOU LIKE CRAZY! (Said in a Greek accent!)

| So...get this! It's Spring right!?!? And supposed to be getting better weather right!?!? ok.....so.....what's up with this!?!? IT SNOWED THIS MORNING!?!? Man....WHAT IS UP with this place!? I think God is teaching me a very important lesson...to REALLY cherish the sun!!! hehehe
Sooooo....it's been a while...but hey...I promise to update at LEAST 4 times per year! hehehe
So, this year seems to be flying by without my permission! I have no great exciting news for you guys, but I have been working really hard! I am now down to one job and quite enjoying it really. I don't miss having to rush around in the middle of the day trying to get to another job!
I have moved house, and am now living with Merro and Justin. I am learning very quickly about the ways of boys...they find the wierdest things funny. It's an education I tell you, and I'm not so sure I want to live with a boy for the rest of my life! hehehe...(they're smelly! hehehe....jokes boys, I love you both! ) But, it has been rather exciting, as Merro has given me free reign over decorating! So, I've been painting and buying stuff, and re-arranging, (and moaning alot) and it's just been great! It's such FUN spending other people's money! Except there have been a few glitches, with regards to furniture not being able to fit through front doors, washing machines continuouly breaking and the bath leaking through the kitchen ceiling, but those are sure to be sorted soon! ( I hope...)
Other news is that I have bought a ticket to the U.S of A!!! I finally thought, if I don't buy this ticket now...I'll never get to go! So, I bought a ticket to LA from Heathrow, on the 2nd of November, and am only returning to London on the 24th December, and then leaving again for SA on the 25th Dec! (Merry Christmas Candy! ) (the only ticket available!) So, I have informed my family that we are having Christmas LATE this year! They aren't allowed to have Christmas without me! hehehe...
Anyway, so I will be touring a little bit of the States, but then also obviously visiting with my lovely friends that I miss and love so much! It's going to be so different and wierd to see everyone as it's all changed so much! People are married and having babies and all sorts of shinannigans are goin on without me there! (Better not catch the bug when I go! hehehe)
Ok, so all you lovely people! I'd love to hear from you! Drop me a line and let me know how you are!
*mwah* *mwah* darling....
| January passed with not so much as a blink of an eye! It's already the middle of FEB!!! HECTIC! And I started a 'Eating right' schedule..which seems to be working. I feel much better for it! And then...my birthday hit....BOOM....lost the diet.... BUT only managed to gain 1 pound in 2 weeks which isn't SO bad, and so am back on track and have the goal back in view...
My birthday was the best yet! It started the weekend before when a couple of South African friends came up to Milton Keynes for the weekend to start the celebrations! We all went out and partied on the Saturday and then had a huge fry-up on Sunday morning, and spent the day in Milton Keynes, showing them the snowdome, and the mall etc. It was so great, I didn't want them to leave! Then, my birthday came during the week and I was so spoilt! I really felt so special! And then the NEXT weekend came and I went to London with a friend of mine and we visited with Carmie, went to Leicester Square for dinner, got all sorts of lovely (Mmmm......!!!) pressies from Carmie, Nick and friends, went for massages in a day spa, ate loads of Sushi, and I was bought an electric accoustic GUITAR!!!!!!! (The HIGHLIGHT of my weekend!) Her name is Suzie, and she is just the most beautiful thing! I didn't think I could be that in love with a material object!!! hehehe.. She's red with black trimmings...and has the most gorgeous sound! So, I was given a fat lecture about writing more songs and throwing myself into music, and so, I plan to... and learn how to play bettter guitar....that would help too! hehehehe Actually on Sunday night, we were in a bar lounge type thingy, and Paul asked the guy that was playing the grand piano who we had befriended if I could play (without my knowledge) and he came right over took me by my hand and promptly put me in front of the piano and said, 'Play!' So, I played a few songs and a few of them were my own and it was the best thing I've ever done! It was amazing! So, I sang and played to a bar full of strangers...and it was the best boost I could have got...now I'm all amped to DO MUSIC!!!!!!! So, a couple of balls are in action with regards to sending out my demo etc etc etc... I might also be doing backing vocals for a friend of mine that is a solo artist, for some of her bigger gigs. So, God knows.... He'll ge t me in there!
Anyway, so, that was all part of my birthday celebrations, which never seemed to end! I am now trying to catch up with life, and sleep and getting back into 'normality'...
| Merry Christmas & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! to those I've not wished! (I know it's late, but better late than never!) It was SOOOOOOOO lovely to see everyone at home! I really needed that! Good times with awesome friends!
Well, this year got off to a swimmingly good start when I spent New Years in Ireland! It was cold...wet....and loads of fun! hehehe Came back with the flu and sore stomach muscles from laughing way too much... and dove straight back into work.
I thought that I needed an answer about the band, and finally got hold of the guys and basically the band has been cancelled forever , and I am in the process of figuring the rest of my year out. I could do anything and go anywhere, so I'll let you all know when I've finally decided what is to be the fate of this year!
Besides that and a few rather enormous life decisions that I am currently grappling with, I am really doing well. I found that I was struggling to spend good time with God on my holiday and so far this year is getting better and better! I have been so peaceful and grateful for everything, even though it seems my world has just been turned upside down, He is giving me all the grace and peace I need to survive until this puzzle is solved!
Our bead business is just taking off! We have a few jewellery parties scheduled in for February and we are looking at a few craft fayres and things of that nature. It really is booming and God has spoken to both Sue and I about some things and we really feel that He has His hand all over this! So, watch this space!
And of COURSE, WHAT kind of a British resident would I be if I didn't talk about the WEATHER!?!? The weather forcast has been rather dreary...and Justin is convinced that it's a recording...played everyday to the gullible public. 'The weather will be overcast, with a chance of light showers, and very cold, so get those coats, scarves and gloves out!'.....MOST depressing when you're a SAFFA! So, to those who are in the summer sun... soak it up...and then some more!
Anyway folks, thanks for reading! Good to see some more good ol South Africans, join us in this tan-eating country, we hope to see you all again...sometime....soon....!!!
Visit again, in the hope that I will have updated a little more when I have decided, what to become when I'm BIG! hehehe
Love ya'll!! | | |
